Spring Break 2015-Sweet Janna, I love her so much!

You know, it wasn't so bad this time.  I still didn't get to see her that much, but the time we had together was so much fun!

She was a little different, and a lot less apprehensive.  She will always be my little angel.

This time I brought her some more toys and she loved my Samsung Galaxy 5.  She wanted to play the little games I downloaded for her all the time.  I also brought her some nice smelling perfume and two pairs of silver earrings.  I love silver!  I actually love it more than gold.

She told me that next time I come she wants a phone.  I said, "Okay, mommy will buy a new Samsung Edge and I can give you my phone."  She said in Arabic, "No mommy, I don't want your phone I want an IPhone 6, New!!"  hahahahaha.. my three year old is up on technology standards.  I thought that was so funny.  So, I told her, I will see.

Anyways, the visit went well and I will see her again this Fall, if all goes well.  Here are some lovely pictures of our time together.

Awe!! I was so happy.. she fell asleep in my arms

She is feeling shy.

December 2014-A Mother is Dead Without Her Children

Well, you know what happens next?

I go to see my beloved daughter, Janna in Egypt.  You see, her family has broken all means of communication with me.  Her dad cut his phone number, all the family's contact numbers, their Skype ID's and every other way to get a hold of them.

In desperation, I even contact my x-husband's new wife to ask if she would be so kind to notify her husband that I want to see my daughter in August 2014, with no answer from him.

So, I decide, I will just go to Egypt and somehow find the family home and somehow they will let me in so I can see my daughter.

I arrive in Egypt on December 20, 2014.  I go to my hotel and I decide that I will be in contact with a lawyer, because this is what the Consular Services in Cairo told me to do, in order to enforce the custody order from the states.

I wait and wait and wait.. until, I just cannot wait anymore.  I have been in Egypt for 5 days, just waiting.  I decide, I will go to the house.  I will have a taxi driver pick me up, pay him $100 roundtrip, bring something sweet and new clothes for my daughter Janna, I even am prepared to pay for her care.

The taxi driver and I ride around asking for my x-husband's home.  Finally, we arrive at the front door.  I am literally shaking-my voice, my hands, everything.  Many mixed thoughts are going through my head, "What if they tell me not to come in?  What if my daughter sees me and she is so scared she cries-granted I haven't seen her in almost two years.  What if my x-husband is home?  What if his new wife is there?"  I did not know what to expect.

Baba, my daughter's grandfather answers the door.  He is a bit surprised but seems happy.   He helps me with the stuff and we go into the family home.  I see my x-husband's mother and she smiles and hugs me like I am her long-lost daughter.  She looks at me and says I am so beautiful.

We sit down and have some refreshments, but I tell them no need. I see my beautiful sweetheart.  She has gotten so big from the little bundle I left there when she was six months old.  All I want to do is just hold her, feel her in my arms again.  She was a little scared at first, but seemed to know me.

I sat with her for two hours, as the family had called my x-husband in America.  He was furious and threatened me saying that his family will call the police if I don't leave this instant.  This made his family so angry, because they told me that I am family, and how can he treat me this way.  It had been three hours, and I had to leave.

Can you imagine?? Three hours after not seeing her for two years?

I cried and she asked me, "Why you cry mommy?"

I said to her, "Because I love you so much! Because I will miss you so much!"

She said, "Don't cry mommy."

I said, "I have to go."

She said, "Why?"
I said, "Because I have to go back to work."  I did not have the heart to tell her that her own father wants her mommy to go away, she would not understand this at age two and a half.

She said, "Why?"

I said, "Because I need to make money, so I can take care of you.  So, I can always be a part of your life."

She said, "Don't go!  Stay with me."  I burst into tears.  I got up, put my coat on.  The family hugged me and told me to email my x-husband with the times that I want to visit next time.  I am supposed to get 90 days visitation a year, and I had three hours.  The time was not enough!

I cried the last Friday in my room.  I then flew to UAE thinking I will be able to see my friends and relax, but my heart was so heavy.  In one week's time, I only left my room twice.  Once to go to the mall and post office and once to drive to see a friend.  I did have one visitor-he is an inspiration to all people who have ever felt like giving up.  Undergoing a terrible car accident when he was 11 years old, he lost the use of his legs.    Hani is a great inspiration to all, including me.

After spending New Years Eve alone, I realized what had to be done!  I needed to stop worrying if I will be alone in this life and start taking action towards being a larger part of my own children's lives.  I need to put them first and stop waiting for a man to "save me".

Sure, I want to have what every woman dreams about once in her live: True Love!  So, now I wait.  I wait for God to bring me the man He wants for me to have in my life-I am no more looking.  Even if I have to wait until I am 70 years old or maybe he never comes, I will keep waiting.

I have had my future staring me in the face all these years and never saw it.  My children are my future. I feel so badly, it took me this long to figure it out.

More later.. go get your tissues.. drink some water.. the feelings they go away once you read this.  But me, they will never leave.  I feel so unfortunate that I am a mother who doesn't have her children by her side, every waking hour.  Count your many blessings all you mothers and children who had a steady mother or father in your life.

I wait!

Today was a sad day for all of us.  We got some really tragic news.  Of my Summer 2014 Friend's list, Nasir lost his brother due to the ISIS attacks on Sengal.(Kurdish way of saying Sinjar)  He was one of the many young boys that were decapitated.  We will all try to cope with this loss together.

But I don't want everyone to remember Atto, Nasir's brother, in this way.  I want us to all remember Atto as he was.  So, in his grief, I have asked Nasir to compile all the pictures of his brother during the happy times of Nasir and Atto's life.  He is Yazidi and they do believe in Reincarnation.  So, let us remember him as we knew him, not of what happened to him.

As Nasir has always described to me, Atto, was a lively 16 year old boy who like most went out with his friends, enjoyed playing with Nasir in ball and other types of brotherly things.  Atto was Nasir's copy.  He wanted to do and be everything like his big brother.  Nasir loved him so much!

Once I get more pictures of Atto, I will share them with you.  I will describe what Nasir says about his brother so that you may all know who Atto was, rather than his outcome on this Earth.

Thank you! (Please keep Nasir and his family in your prayers!)

September 28, 2014

Today was supposed to be the first day of school.  However, the school building is not quite finished yet.  So, work is still starting at 9:30 and we work until 6:00.

I had quite a disturbing dream last night.  Most dreams can involve wild plots and usually they are personal and I don't write them down for all the world to read, but if someone could shed some light on this one, I would appreciate it.

In my dream, I travel back in time like 150 years.  I see myself happy with this wealthy gentleman.  Except this gentlemen, is not shallow like most wealthy men.  He has an imagination and a golden heart.  Of course because of his family's fortune, he is known throughout the world.

He is very kind to me, and he courts me properly.  I fall in love with him, but I do not make him aware of my feelings.  Time goes by and we become closer and closer.  Never doing anything improperly.  He asks me to marry him many times and I tell him, "I need to take care of my family."

Then all of a sudden, he starts aging.  I find that I am holding him in my arms, he asks me to kiss him just one time and says he has always loved me.  I cry to him, "What is happening?  Why are you dying?"  He tells me not to cry.  I say to him, "You cannot die.  I love you!"

He said, "don't worry, you will cry and when you wake up you will see this is a dream, but I want you to know something.  You will find my soul in another man very soon.  I will come back to take care of you soon.  I love you and I will find you."

With that he vanished in my arms, into nothing.  I was sitting there crying and weeping for my lost love.  When I woke up, sure enough my eyes were filled with tears.  I really felt like I was there with him.  I was very upset this morning.  I just kept remembering him say, "I will find you soon.  Soon, I will find you, soon."

So, the question is, the fact that I am so upset still, after dreaming this seven hours ago, was it de'ja vu?  Did it really happen one day in my life?  Was it a past life experience and now I am just remembering it?  Or was it just a dream which upset me because I am missing the life I could have had if I did not make all the wrong choices?  What is your analysis?

The strangest thing of all, is that I really feel like I lost him.  Like he was really part of my life.  If he does come back into another man's body, how will I know it is him?

July 31, 2014

It is after my one week break and it is time to travel to Zakho.  We started from Dukhan at 10:00 am, and didn't even get to Zakho by the evening, so I ended up staying in Duhok for two days before they moved me to Zakho.

It was a great trip to see the different landscapes of Kurdistan.  In Dukhan, as you can see from my previous post of mountains and the mountain villa, it is more dry with spots of green.  As we traveled to Duhok, the mountains were somewhat rocky then more green.

We stopped at a quaint little mountain town on the way.  Fresh water from the mountain springs poured out of a little pipe into a pool of cold water for travelers to wash their hands and feet in.  There were all these jams and sweets, along with nuts and other food types for travelers to buy.

Tea is a big issue here.   They drink tea for everything.  All Kurdish people drink tea in certain glasses made for tea.  Even children as young as age five know how to stir tea and drink it.  It is pretty amazing!

July 27, 2014- Holiday of Eid (Islamic Holiday)

I did not stay in the UAE.  I flew by Fly Dubai to Sulaymaniah to start work in Kurdistan.  Was I crazy?  Yeah!! Pretty crazy!  But you all know that already.  Why did I come here?  Well, I decided to first see if it was going to be a good fit for me.

What will I be doing?  I was told I was going to come here and help to open a brand new British International School.  I will be the new Head of KG.  No, I did not come here for the money, I came for the experience.

First we went to my Founder's home in Dukhan, in Eastern Kurdistan.  Beautiful mountains and valleys, with vineyards.  I stayed in Freshta's mountain villa for the Eid holiday.  We took life easy, and we had fun.  I met some of her friends from the area.  It was a nice experience.

Friends of Summer 2014

Since my friends are a reason I put together all of my stories, I will include their pictures here.  Of course some of them are bashful, and don't like their pictures taken, but I love all of my friends.  I hope they are Friends for Life and I wish them all the happiness in this life! I have many other friends, but I wanted to dedicate a page to the ones who still kept in contact with me over the summer and now.

The more I tell my friends about this page, I keep getting new photos.  Love it!! Thank you so much for being great friends!
